Teach you how to clean your hat skillfully
Method 1: the knitted cap was washed by washing machine
Put the knitting cap in the pillowcase. Hand knitted hats, especially wool or cashmere hats, are easily damaged by washing machines. In order to avoid damage, use pillow case, underwear bag or cloth bag that can be washed by washing machine. Zip up the bag or tie it up so that the hat doesn't fall out of it. This step is very important, especially when you have very little laundry.
Wash the hat with a lot of clothes. The knitted hat is easy to be damaged when it is tossed around in the washing machine, so you can wash the hat and a lot of clothes together, so that the space for the hat to be swung will be greatly reduced. However, the clothes washed together should be of the same color and material, so that the washing mode can be set. Fill up with cold water before you start washing. Fill the washing machine with cold water before putting clothes and knitting caps in. Do not use hot water because hot water will make the hat fade, some materials even shrink the hat. Water enough to submerge clothes. Press pause before the washing machine starts stirring.
Add a spoonful of mild detergent. When washing wool knitted hat or other clothes, special detergent should be used. The detergent used should be mild and should not contain bleach or any irritating chemicals. Press the hat to the bottom. Many knitted hats, especially wool ones, absorb water slowly. The cap floats on the water before it's full. Press the cap to the bottom to speed up the water absorption.
Let the clothes soak in the water for a while. Let the hat and other clothing soak in water for 30-60 minutes. If it's a particularly dirty hat, soak it all night, but not more than one night. Wash in soft mode. Generally, a slightly higher grade washing machine will have a soft mode, and some washing machines will be marked with "hand washing mode". If you don't have these modes on your washing machine, you can also use the rotary mode. In soft mode and hand wash mode, the washing machine turns very slowly and gently, but without these modes, the rotation mode can handle it, as long as you tuck a hat into a pillow case and wash it with a lot of clothes. Shake dry. If the hat is still wet after the spin dry mode, you can dry it again, or you can squeeze the hat on a dry, clean towel.
Level the hat to dry. Spread a dry and clean towel on a flat surface and put your hat on it. It's better to air the hat in a ventilated place, such as a room with an electric fan. Never hang the hat in a place with hot wind or direct sunlight. Let the hat dry naturally, which can take hours or even a whole day.
Method 2: hand wash knitted hat
Find a plastic basin and fill it with water. Do not use hot water or warm water to wash, otherwise the hat will fade and some materials will shrink. If you just wash one or two hats, plastic bowls are enough. Pour in mild detergent. Stir with plastic spoon to float a layer of foam on the water surface. The best way to wash wool knitted hat is to use a special detergent for wool fabrics. Otherwise, a mild detergent without bleaching agent and other additives can be used. Powder detergent can be directly dissolved into the water, so the washing effect is the best.
First dip the corner of the hat in the water. Before dipping the whole hat in, try to see if the color of the hat will fade and whether the fabric will have adverse reactions. Immerse the cloth inside the back of the head for 2 minutes, so that even if there are any adverse reactions, the damage will not be obvious. Dip the whole hat in. If there is no adverse reaction from the fabric in the previous step, you can submerge the whole hat in the water. If it's just a regular wash, just soak the hat in the water for 30 minutes. If the hat is covered with mud or stubborn dust, you may have to soak it all night.
Rinse the hat. Remove the cap from the water, then turn on the tap water and rinse the detergent with a large water flow. Remember to rinse with cold water and rush to the hat until you stick to your hands, and you can't see any bubbles. Squeeze out excess water. Squeeze the water out with both hands, then put the hat on the clean dishcloth and pat it gently until there is no water dripping down. Do not wring it dry, otherwise the hat will be twisted and deformed. Let the hat dry. Air the knitted cap in a ventilated place, shape it, and lay it flat on a towel. If you want to make the hat dry quickly, put the electric fan aside to blow, but do not turn on the hair dryer with hot air blowing. Otherwise the hat will shrink easily. Similarly, hats should not be placed in direct sunlight.
Method 3: wash baseball caps with dishwasher
Use the dishwasher. Baseball caps can be machine washed, but washing them with a washing machine is harmful. In contrast, the water in the dishwasher is milder, but the water temperature must be enough to kill the bacteria on the hat. Put the hat on the bottom of the dishwasher. In a standard dishwasher, the teeth in the lower layer are often sparse, so that the edge of the hat can be stuck in, and the bowl-shaped part can be stuck on the top of the teeth, so that the hat will not deform during the washing process.
Add detergent to the dishwasher. Whether you use small bags or liquids, detergents are essential. But don't use laundry detergent. It is better to use a mild detergent without any additives or spices. Set the dishwasher to fast wash mode. Most dishwashers have at least two washing modes: a comprehensive washing mode for washing many dishes at once and a fast washing mode that saves time and water. When washing the hat, you should choose the fast mode to avoid too long soaking time, otherwise the hat is easy to deform.
Let the hat dry. Don't use the drying function of the dishwasher, but take out the hat, put it in the hat with a dry and clean towel, and then put the hat flat on another towel to dry, so that the hat is not easy to deform when drying.
Method 4: hand wash baseball cap
Soak the baseball cap in hot water. You can dip the hat in a big bowl, as long as the bowl can hold the hat, and the water should be enough to submerge the hat. Soak the hat in the water for 20-30 minutes, and the dust will soak out. Fill the sink with water and add detergent. The water should be hot, but be careful not to burn yourself. Add 15 ml detergent to the water. The detergent used should not be aromatic or contain any dyes, otherwise the hat will be damaged. Mix well by hand. You can also wash in a bucket instead of in the sink. If your sink is dirty and you are in a hurry to wash your hat, this may be the best solution.
Dip the baseball cap in the sink. Clean the hat with a toothbrush or vegetable brush. Focus on the place with the most dirt, but the place with trademark or sign should be lighter. Put the hat under cold water and rinse it. Let the water out of the pool, then turn on the tap to make sure the water is cold, and then rinse the cap under it. Rub it with your fingers from time to time until you have washed the detergent. Dry the hat. Put a few clean dishwashing cloths inside the hat to help shape it, otherwise the hat is easy to deform and can't be worn. If you want your hat to dry faster, you can turn on the electric fan and blow it nearby. But do not use hot Feng Shui, or the hat will shrink.
Method 5: hand wash straw hat
First of all, make sure that the straw hat made of this material is washable. Some straw hat materials are very fragile, even can not withstand hand washing. However, most straw hats can be washed, only by hand. If you are not sure whether the material of straw hat is suitable for washing, you can gently break off one corner of the hat. If it doesn't move too much, or it starts to recover its shape after breaking off, the toughness of the hat is still OK; if it is easy to break, or even damaged, it indicates that the material is very fragile and not suitable for washing.
Remove decorations. The straw hat is often fixed with rope, ribbon, button or other ornaments, which can be easily removed. But if it's sewn with thread, you don't have to take it off. Dip a clean dishcloth into the water that has been washed. Fill the basin with warm water, add a mild detergent, mix evenly until the water is frothy. Then soak the clean dishcloth in the water. After the dishcloth is saturated with water, take it out and wring it dry.
Wipe the straw hat with a wet dishcloth. Wipe the outside of the hat with a dishcloth. If the dishcloth becomes too dry, soak it again to make sure there is enough water to wipe the straw hat. Wipe off the residual detergent. Use another piece of wet cloth to wipe off the residual detergent. Note that the cloth head is soaked with water, not the water with detergent just inside. Don't wet the straw hat, or it will shrink easily. Put the hat on the mold to dry. The cap mold can keep the original shape of the hat. If you don't have a hat mold, you can turn a bowl upside down to act as a hat mold and put the hat on it.
Spray cap styling water on the inside of the hat. If you don't have cap styling water, other styling water can also be used to fix the straw inside. Restore decorations. After the hat is dried and sprayed with styling water, you can restore the decoration to its original position.
